The First Steps to Healthy Families is a voluntary program provides support, education and health services to pregnant women and families with children under the age of 5 who want to lead a healthy, sober lifestyle.

The First Steps to Healthy Families is a voluntary individual strengths based program that connects families with community resources to help reach their goals.  Our team is here to help mothers and fathers overcome drug or alcohol addiction – without judgment, criticism or shame.  Our overall goal is to help keep families together and encourage healthy pregnancies.  

Some of the following services may be offered with this program: 

  • One on one support planning  
  • Home visits  
  • Advocacy and collaboration with services and resources to help meet your daily needs  
  • Help starting prenatal care  
  • Help with connecting with sober supports and alcohol and drug services  

This program is offered to anyone who meets the following requirements: 

  • Anyone who is a resident of Beltrami County 
  • You are currently pregnant or have a child under the age of 5 
  • You have a current or previous history of alcohol or substance use 

  • Weekly meetings with case manager to set individual goals  
  • Non judgmental approach to working together  
  • Working together to help solve your concerns  
  • Help families navigate sobriety  
  • Education about substance use and community resources
