Child & Teen Checkups

Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC) screenings are a free benefit to children and young adults from birth through age 20 who are enrolled in Minnesota Health Care Programs (Medical Assistance, PrimeWest, Blue Plus).

Contact the us for assistance in enrollment in a Minnesota Health Care Program, information on reduced cost exams, and provider resources.

These checkups qualify for annual well-child exams and Head Start/Preschool screenings.

Public Health Nurse checkups Include:

  • Complete physical exam
  • Information about good physical health
  • Information about thoughts, feelings and relationships with others
  • Questions and answers about your child's health and development
  • Immunizations
  • Hearing/Vision check
  • Lab tests (Lead, Hemoglobin)
  • Checks on growth and development
  • Fluoride varnish treatments
  • Referral to other medical providers and services

Checkups should be done:

  • Between birth and one month
  • At ages 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 and 30 months
  • Annually between the ages of 3 and 21
  • More often if needed
