Emergency Assistance

Emergency assistance programs are short-term assistance (usually a one time payment) for people experiencing a financial hardship such as an eviction or utility shutoff.  There are two programs; Emergency Assistance (EA) and Emergency General Assistance (EGA).

Emergency Assistance funds may be used to help families (with minor children or a pregnant woman) meet emergency needs to avoid housing and/or utility crisis.

Emergency General Assistance will be used to help individuals, married couple without children, or families not eligible for Emergency Assistance Funds.

Frequency limits  No one in the household may have used either Emergency Assistance (EA) or Emergency General Assistance (EGA) in the last twelve months. Anyone in the unit receiving EGA makes the entire unit ineligible for the 12-month period.
