Hiring Process

Training and Experience Ratings 

A training and experience rating (T & E rating) is completed for each application we receive. Before a position is advertised, the supervisor and the Human Resource Director meet to determine what skills, education and experience will earn points in the rating.  All of these criteria must be job related.  Information provided on supplemental applications is scored. The points are totaled and used as the basis for placement on an eligibility list.  Veteran’s preference points are added to the final score. 

Eligibility Lists 

The names of the ten top-scoring candidates will be placed on an eligibility list and their applications will be forwarded to the supervisor or department head for further consideration. 

Interviews 

Supervisors and/or department heads select the candidates for interviews from the eligibility list. An interview panel will conduct and score interviews and selections will be made.  

Reasonable Accommodation 

Persons with disabilities may request special accommodations from Beltrami County in order to participate in a selection process or to perform work once hired. Requests for accommodation should be made as soon as possible, in writing or an appropriate alternative format. 

E-Verify Notice 

If you are selected for a position, the documentation you present for purposes of completing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Form I-9 prior to your beginning employment will be verified through the DHS E-Verify system. Federal law requires Beltrami County to use the E-Verify system to verify the employment eligibility of all new hires, and obligates the new hire to take affirmative steps to resolve any discrepancies identified by the system as a condition of continued employment.
