Press Release: Wednesday Storm Update
Press Release: Wednesday Storm Update
July 2, 2025
The downtown Assistance Center has been closed and meal service has discontinued as recovery efforts continue and things return to a sense of normalcy. Post-storm resource support for Beltrami County residents is available through Beltrami County Public Health. Public Health, United Way of Bemidji and Community Resource Connections are coordinating with local and regional partners to continue to respond to community needs. Those needing in-person assistance can visit the Public Health Office during business hours at 616 America Ave NW or call 218-333-8140.
Those needing assistance with removing fallen trees on homes, blocking driveways or otherwise affecting the property can contact Community Resource Connections (CRC) at 218-333-0880. If other storm related needs exist in the household; callers are encouraged to let Community Resource Connections staff know about those needs. They may not have all the services or funding that are needed; but if they find common needs amongst households they will have the information needed to pursue the help to address those needs. Other sources of information include: www.crcinform.org and unitedwaybemidji.org/disaster-recovery. The available resources are intended to mitigate unsafe conditions due to the storm and not necessarily to return the property to pre-storm condition. The level of cleanup will vary depending on availability and crews. There is no direct financial assistance available to individuals.
Upon being entered into the queue for cleanup assistance, you should receive a text from “Crisis Cleanup”. This will allow you to upload pictures of the damage and add details, such as specific needs and considerations. Crisis Cleanup will also give text updates on the process. This is how the volunteer efforts are being captured and collected, if you need further assistance do not call Crisis Cleanup, use United Way of Bemidji. If you received a “Team Rubicon” door tag and need assistance, please contact CRC at the number above not the 1-800 number printed on the tag.
The Demolition Landfill and the Target site will remain open 7am-7pm through July 3, including Saturday and Sunday. They will be closed on July 4th. The sites will open 7am-7pm July 5 and 6 depending on the weather. With thunderstorm chances, if conditions are dangerous or too difficult, they may need to close until conditions improve. The Target site is NOT accepting commercial haulers and they must go to the Demolition Landfill.
As our assisting organizations depart our community, we extend a tremendous amount of gratitude for your assistance during our time of need. When our resources were overwhelmed, many answered the call and arrived quickly.
MIIGWECH!
