Press Release: Saturday Evening Storm Update

Press Release: Saturday Evening Storm Update

June 28, 2025

Governor Walz has declared a Peacetime Emergency for Beltrami County. This allows state resources to remain deployed to assist in the recovery process as well as expedite other assistance from state agencies. Additional resources are being requested to assist Beltrami County and the City of Bemidji.

The Beltrami County Solid Waste Division has extended the Bemidji Transfer Station hours until 4pm today. Both Beltrami County Transfer Stations will be closed tomorrow, Sunday June 29. The Bemidji Transfer Station will be open again on Monday and an additional day on Tuesday will be open to the public as it is normally closed on Tuesdays. The Solid Waste Division is serving residents to the best of their ability. The amount of debris has maxed out the capacity and we are receiving mutual aid assistance from Polk and Hubbard Counties.

The Target debris site does not accept stumps. Stumps must be taken to the Demolition Landfill. Please use caution and care when visiting these facilities. It is understandable that people want to work as quickly as possible, but we need people to slow down as safety is very important to the County. Pine Products is no longer a Beltrami County debris collection site. All commercial debris disposal must be done at the Demolition Landfill.

The Demolition Landfill and the Target site will remain open 7am-7pm through July 3, including Saturday and Sunday. They will be closed on July 4th. The sites will be open 7am-7pm July 5 and 6. The Target site is NOT accepting commercial haulers and they must go to the Demolition Landfill.

United Way of Bemidji and Community Resource Connections are providing services and resources to connect volunteers and those in need. This can include debris clearance among a variety of other services. Volunteers able to assist should call 218-444-8929 or visit unitedwaybemidji.org/disaster-recovery. If you need assistance or resources call 218-333-0880 or visit crcinform.org. Beltrami County is committed to ensuring that residents affected by the storm have access to the essential support they need. Visit the Beltrami County website and navigate to Public Health or call 218-333-8140.
