Rural Child Care Innovation Program

First Children’s Finance has chosen Bemidji to participate in their Rural Child Care Innovation Program. The Rural Child Care Innovation Program is a community engagement process designed to develop right-sized solutions to address the needs of child care and early education for the communities selected to participate.

Over an 18-month period, chosen communities will increase the focus on opportunities and challenges they are facing with child care. First Children’s Finance helps facilitate the conversation and provides expertise, tools, and resources to support the creation and implementation of solutions to address child care shortages in rural communities.

If you have questions, please contact Economic Services Division Director, Anne Lindseth at 218-333-4199.

Mental Health Services

In 2014, the Minnesota Legislature appropriated $2,000,000 to Beltrami County to be used toward addressing the gaps in mental health services in our community.    In order to provide the best array of programs possible, several agencies and community partners were included in the planning and implementation.   While there is still much work to be done in providing services to people with mental illness, the work of the committee has resulted in several first ever cared models to our community and region.
