Parks and Recreation
NRM Department manages over 146,500 acres of tax-forfeited, and county owned property with a strong commitment to forest stewardship. In developing a “first class” parks and recreation system our focus has been on providing quality, multiple-use opportunities for citizens of Beltrami County and tourists alike.
Opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling to name a few, can be found throughout Beltrami County.

Grant Creek Horse Camp: Designated by the Beltrami County Board on August 6, 2013. The camp is 9 acres in size and provides access to over 42 miles of trail riding opportunities through a variety of terrain and timber types. Overnight equestrian camping is available at this location.
Mississippi High Banks: Located approximately 8 miles southeast of Solway, MN, this park offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River. Enjoy a more remote and rustic camp experience.
Movil Maze Recreational Area: Named for a network of cross-country ski trails that were constructed in 1979 for the first Minnesota Finlandia Ski Marathon. This 913 acre, day-use recreation area is located approximately 5 miles north of Bemidji, MN.
Northland Regional Sports Park: Located 4 miles northwest of Bemidji, MN off of Highway 89, this park is the home of trap, skeet, pistol, and rifle ranges, as well as a multi-use trail head.
Pine Tree Park: Located 2 miles west of the City of Blackduck, across the road from the Blackduck Municipal Golf Course. The approximately 60 acre park is managed by the City of Blackduck through a management agreement with Beltrami County.
Rognlien Park: Often referred to as the “Jewel” of the Beltrami County Park system, Rognlien Park is located on Grant Lake approximately 1 mile southwest of Wilton, MN. This day-use park provides a variety of family orientated recreational opportunities. Sandy beach, swimming area, picnic tables, open shelter, fishing, boating, and playground equipment are some of the main attractions.
Three Island Park: Deeded to Beltrami County in 1967 from the State of Minnesota, this day-use facility is located approximately 12 miles north of Bemidji on Three Island Lake and is 2,915 acres in size.
Wilton Hill Recreation Area: Wilton Hill Recreation Area: Located approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Wilton, MN, this recreation area was designated by the Beltrami County Board of Commissioners on July 6, 2021. Open to motorized and non-motorized recreation.
Wilton Trails Northwest: A trail system that supports All-Terrain Vehicle (ATVs), Off-Highway Motorcycle (OHMs), and snowmobile use. The trail begins west of Bemidji and travels 33 miles northwest through the towns of Wilton and Pinewood. The old Soo Line railroad grade serves as the trail system backbone with smaller looping trails diverging from it.
Recreational Project Request Form: The project request form must be completed by the proponent of recreational trail/facility development projects that are to take place on Beltrami County managed lands. The form must be submitted to the Natural Resource Management (NRM) Department for approval.
